Staffs

  1. Jinbo Wang did her postdoc study on new genes' function from 2017 to 2019. She left and went to US, and she was interested in science media now.
  2. Wenwen Shi was a postdoc in the lab since 2013.7 to 2016.5, She helped set up the wet lab and implement Ribo-seq technique. Then, she left lab to be an assistant investigator in Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology.
  3. Liang Leng was a former staff in the lab since 2013 to 2016. He later joined Chinese Medicine Research Institute of Chinese Science.
  4. Haiwang Yang was the first postdoc in the lab. From 2011.12 to 2014.1, he analyzed how gene loss occurred within species. He also helped set up the wet lab. He left to be a postdoc in Brian Oliver's lab in NIDDK, NIH.
  5. Li Zhang was the first lab member besides Yong. As a research scientist between 2011.9 and 2011.12, he helped design the lab together with the computational evolutionary genomics tutorial. He joined Manyuan Long's lab of University of Chicago.

Students with a degree

  1. Yi Shao received his PhD training on comparative genomics from 2012 to 2019. He joined the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) as an internet administrator.
  2. Chunyan Chen received her PhD training on comparative genomics from 2012 to 2019. She joined the North-West Industrial University as a special lecturer.
  3. Yanan Mao graduated in 2019 with a master degree. She explored how pseudogenes evolve around 2018.
  4. Jiawei Huang was involved in statistical modelling from 2015 to 2018. He graduated with a master degree on Jun, 2018. After that, he joined a biotech company as a statistician.

Interns or short-term students
  1. Huixin Jin was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). Since 2019 to 2020, she was an intern student of the lab. She explored how primate-specific transcription factors interact with transposons. Now she is in the master program of computational biology at ETH Zurich.
  2. Zhibin Yi was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). In 2020, he was an intern student of the lab and analyzed a primate-specific gene possibly involved in reproduction. He later joined the Institute of Biophysics for his PhD study..
  3. Yun Deng was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). Since 2017 to 2019, he was an intern student of the lab. He explored how new gene origination contributes to human brain evolution. Now he is in the PhD program of computational biology at UCBerkley.
  4. Yuheng Guan was a intern student from 2017.11 to 2019.5 and focused on evolution of gene expression across mammals. He later joined the Institute of Neuroscience for his PhD study.
  5. Chen Qu was involved in functional studies of few new genes from 2017.9 to 2019.1. She left the lab to be a preschool teacher later.
  6. Xiyuan Guan was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). Since the middle 2016 to the late 2017, she was a intern student of the lab. She explored whether Y chromosome could encode new genes. She left lab for an oversea exchange program.
  7. Rigen Te was a intern student between 2014.3 and 2014.8. With chemical training, he tried to set up RNA-seq and Ribo-seq techniques in the lab. He then left for a postgraduate degree in chemical engineering.
  8. Dantong Liu was an intern student between 2012.10 and 2013.5. With statistical training, she tried to implement and optimize weighted gene co-expression network analysis platform. She joined a IT company later.
  9. Robin Burns was an intern student between 2012.7 and 2012.10. He attempted to understand how the early neurodevelopment is different between human and mouse with respect to gene ages. He later pursed a PhD degree in Magnus Nordborg's lab in Vienna.
  10. Chenglu Zhang was an intern student between 2011.9 and 2012.7 and he served as the IT administrator. Now, he is pursing a postgraduate degree in computer science in Shanghai Jiaotong University.
