Staffs

  1. Jinbo Wang did her postdoc study on new genes' function. She left and went to US, and she was interested in science media now.
  2. Wenwen Shi was a postdoc in the lab, She helped set up the wet lab and implement Ribo-seq technique. Then, she left lab to be an assistant investigator in Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology.
  3. Liang Leng was a former staff in the lab. He later joined Chinese Medicine Research Institute of Chinese Science.
  4. Haiwang Yang was the first postdoc in the lab. He analyzed how gene loss occurred within species. He also helped set up the wet lab. He left to be a postdoc in Brian Oliver's lab in NIDDK, NIH.
  5. Li Zhang was the first lab member besides Yong. He helped design the lab together with the computational evolutionary genomics tutorial. He joined Manyuan Long's lab of University of Chicago.

Students with a degree

  1. Daqi Yu received his PhD training on comparative genomics and studied paralogous compensation and whole genome duplications. He joined AstraGenomics as a team leader of bioinformatics.
  2. Dan Zhang received her PhD training on comparative genomics and studied how polymorphic duplicate genes evolve. She joined East China Normal University as a postdoc.
  3. Chenyu Ma received his PhD training on comparative genomics and studied how primate-specific genes were involved in tumorigenesis. He joined Genetron as a staff scientist.
  4. Yi Shao received his PhD training on comparative genomics. He joined the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) as an internet administrator and a staff bioinformatitian.
  5. Chunyan Chen received her PhD training on comparative genomics. She joined the North-West Industrial University as a special lecturer.
  6. Yanan Mao graduated with a master degree. She explored how pseudogenes evolve.
  7. Jiawei Huang was involved in statistical modelling. He graduated with a master degree and joined a biotech company as a statistician.

Undergraduate internship or thesis studies
  1. Peiyu Xu was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). As an intern student, she explored somatic mosaicism related with transposons. She later joined Cornell University for her PhD study.
  2. Juanhan Chen was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). As an intern student, she was involved in reannotation of transposons.
  3. Jianbo Ma was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). As an intern student, he explored how SARS-CoV-2 accumulated coding mutations. He later joined Tsinghua University for his PhD study.
  4. Huixin Jin was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). She was ever an intern student of the lab. She explored how primate-specific transcription factors interact with transposons. Now she is in the master program of computational biology at ETH Zurich.
  5. Zhibin Yi was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). He was an intern student of the lab and analyzed a primate-specific gene possibly involved in reproduction. He later joined the Institute of Biophysics for his PhD study.
  6. Yun Deng was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). He was an intern student of the lab. He explored how new gene origination contributes to human brain evolution. Now he is in the PhD program of computational biology at UCBerkley.
  7. Yuheng Guan was a intern student and focused on evolution of gene expression across mammals. He later joined the Institute of Neuroscience for his PhD study.
  8. Chen Qu was involved in functional studies of few new genes. She left the lab to be a preschool teacher later.
  9. Xiyuan Guan was an undergraduate student in life sciences (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences). She was a intern student of the lab. She explored whether Y chromosome could encode new genes. She left lab for an oversea exchange program.
  10. Rigen Te was a intern student. With chemical training, he tried to set up RNA-seq and Ribo-seq techniques in the lab. He then left for a postgraduate degree in chemical engineering.
  11. Dantong Liu was an intern student. With statistical training, she tried to implement and optimize weighted gene co-expression network analysis platform. She joined a IT company later.
